OCTA is an emerging technology enabling novel applications. Its use in ophthalmology to visualize the vessels on the retina in 3D provides the physicians valuable information on a patients condition. The subjective evaluation by the physician comprises inter- and intra-individual variations. Therefore, an objective measure should be developed. The segmentation of vessels and especially capillaries is a challenge. Their quantification in terms of their diameter could reveal information on the vascularization of ht retina. This can be used to determine whether the treatment is going well or not.

Project description
The project consists of a literature research on published methods to segment small vessel as well as measuring their diameter. Promising approaches and their adaption should be implemented and tested on the available data sets. Discussion is needed since no ground truth is available. The implementation is done in MATLAB.
