Identification of intraatrial arrhythmogenic sources

The university clinic of Freiburg and the scientist Mark Nothstein (IBT) have released a paper on the Identification of intraatrial arrhythmogenic sources using intracardiac electrogram characteristics. Several characteristics were explored in-situ and the underlying mechanisms were examined using computational models. Additionally, for one case an in-silico ablation procedure of the detected tissue zone was simulated resulting in the successfull termination of the atrial fibrillation. This work aims to aid clinicians to identify heterogeneous tissue and deepen the understanding of the underlying mechanisms of atrial fibrillation.
