Video processing for intraoperative diagnostics

A proper diagnosis is essential for planning a therapy to cure diseases. It is often necessary to gather information while therapy, such like in a surgery, to control the progress and the quality of the procedure. A lot of information is recorded within a surgery by the camera system of a microscope. Scientists did show that recorded data of a camera can be processed and used to calculate and extract relevant hidden information. This information can be visualized and the information gain can be used to assist the surgical team in difficult decisions, simplify the surgical workflow and of course lead to a successful therapy.
The focus of this research is on the investigation of the vascular function. Mostly cerebral vessels are investigated, this is done with to use of a dye (Indocyanine Green, short ICG) and dye-free.
