Investigation of vessel density in OCTA images

  • OCTA is an emerging technology enabling novel applications. Its use in ophthalmology to visualize the vessels on the retina in 3D provides the physicians valuable information on a patients condition. The subjective evaluation by the physician comprises inter- and intra-individual variations. Therefore, an objective measure should be developed. The quantification of the vessel density is a challenge. Using different methods to asses the density could reveal information on the vascularization of the retina. This can be used to determine whether the treatment is going well or not.
