Innovative ablation strategies to terminate reentrant activity on simplified left atrium geometry

  • AF will be induced in an idealised left atrium geometry (sphere with 5 holes (4 pulmonary veins and mitral valve)) and the student will apply various ablation techniques to try to stop the arrhythmia and restore sinus rhythm. The student will develop an algorithm which will take as input the location of the reentry, will introduce transmural ablations parametrised to a curved surface and will test the success in stopping the reentrant wave. The student needs to evaluate which ablation strategy terminates most of the arrhythmic episodes minimising the amount of burned tissue.
