Ab dem Wintersemester werden am IBT drei neue Vorlesungen in den Studiengängen Medizintechnik (Bachelor) und Biomedical Engineering (Master) angeboten.

Lecture Series: Trauma Science – Blood, Emergency Medicine, and Surgery
Credits: 3 ECTS | 2 SWS

This module explores key aspects of trauma science, including accident research, prehospital trauma management, innovative technologies for hemostasis, blood physiology and pathophysiology, transfusion medicine, and modern surgical approaches.
The course provides both theoretical foundations and practical perspectives on the medical, technical, and organizational principles that shape the treatment of trauma patients.

Vascular and Oncological Microtherapy
Credits: 3 ECTS | 2 SWS

Format: Seminar and excursions

In this module, students will attend seminars given by Prof. Peter Reimer, specialist in radiology at the Karlsruhe Municipal Hospital, focusing on vascular and oncological interventional procedures.
The course introduces state-of-the-art minimally invasive therapy methods and their clinical applications. In addition to the seminars, students will participate in excursions to medical facilities to gain practical insights into interventional techniques.

Lecture Series: Supply Chains in the Healthcare Sector (Winter Semester Block)

This lecture series, part of the two-semester module Supply Chains in the Healthcare Sector, focuses on the pharmaceutical supply chain in hospitals.
Taught by Prof. Dr. Christian Degenhardt and Sarah Frank from the Clinical Pharmacy of Städtisches Klinikum Karlsruhe, the course covers hospital logistics, closed-loop medication systems, and the organization and financing of the German healthcare system.
The combination of theoretical foundations and practical insights provides a comprehensive understanding of how medical care is organized, financed, and delivered within an interconnected healthcare network.
