Bronchoscopic navigation requires fine and repeatable control of several degrees of freedom of the bronchoscope, including forward and backward motion, axial rotation, and tip bending through the control lever. In manual use, these actions depend strongly on the operator’s skill and are difficult to reproduce in a precise and standardized way. A motorized actuation platform can therefore represent a key enabling technology for more controlled, repeatable, and programmable bronchoscope manipulation. The motivation of this project is to design and prototype a dedicated mechanical structure capable of actuating the main bronchoscope controls through motors and custom 3D-designed components. Such a system would provide the physical foundation for future research on JEPA-based world models for autonomous bronchoscopic navigation in controlled experimental settings.
