New Research Associate at the IBT

Pascal Maierhofer is working on the validation and improvement of digital twins of the heart for the localization of atrial fibrillation triggers. His focus areas are the application of computer science to medical topics.

The Institute of Biomedical Engineering welcomes Mr. Pascal Maierhofer as a new research associate. Since October 2024, he has been working in the research group "Computational Cardiac Modeling" on the validation and improvement of digital twins of the heart for the localization of atrial fibrillation triggers. In cooperation with the "Städtisches Klinikum Karlsruhe" and the "Universitätsklinikum Frankfurt" he is validating and improving patient-specific atrial models built at IBT to improve patient-specific localization of atrial fibrillation triggers.

Pascal Maierhofer joined the IBT in July 2023 as a student assistant developing an augmented reality tool for atrial fibrillation ablation. He then completed his master’s degree in computer science at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in cooperation with IBT and TECO focusing on explainable machine learning for atrial fibrillation assessment.
