New Research Associate at the IBT

Carola Kruthoff is working on the creation and validation of biomechanical twin modeling to unravel the hypertrophic phenotype.

The Institute of Biomedical Engineering welcomes Carola Kruthoff as a new research associate. Since July 2025, she has been working in the research group “Computer Model of the Heart” on the creation and validation of biomechanical twin modeling to unravel the hypertrophic phenotype.
Passive and active mechanical properties of the myocardial tissue of a digital twin could make it possible to distinguish between hypertensive heart disease, athlete's heart and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

Carola Kruthoff completed her Bachelor's and Master's degree in Mechatronics and Information Technology at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). She wrote her master's thesis on “Evaluating cardiac resynchronization therapy strategies in an electromechanical heart model” at IBT.
