New Scientific Staff Member at IBT
The Institute of Biomedical Engineering (IBT) welcomes Jan-Erik Duhme as a new scientific staff member. Since early July 2026, he has been working in the research group “Computational Models of the Heart” within the framework of the DFG research unit FOR6051 – The Interstitium: a Key Determinant of Cardiac Function. His research focuses on the in-silico investigation of the electrophysiological influence of interstitial non-myocytes on the propagation of the cardiac action potential.
Jan-Erik Duhme completed his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Electrical and Information Engineering at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). He has been affiliated with the IBT since April 2023, where he contributed to research activities as part of his Bachelor’s and Master’s theses as well as in his role as a student research assistant. In his Master’s thesis titled “In silico investigation of cardiac contractility modulation”, he studied the effects of cardiac contractility modulation using computational heart models.
